Where Mind, Body & Community Thrive

About Tempest Health Co.

Our Story

From the very beginning, Tempest Health Co. was born out of a simple belief: everyone deserves access to world‑class care, coaching, and mindfulness—no matter their background or budget.

Bulding a Better Model

Driven by that firsthand experience, El‑Ad trained as a Physical Therapist in Israel, contributed to COVID‑19 research during the pandemic, and earned dual licensure in Colorado. Along the way, he recognized how traditional pricing and insurance barriers leave many underserved. That’s why Tempest Health Co. pioneered a Pay‑What‑You‑Can model—so you choose a session rate that fits your budget (typically $65–$110/hr), without hidden fees, visit caps, or prior‑auth headaches.

“ Goals were met and progress was steady - especially in flexibility and Mobility. "Pigeon" exercise (for ex.) and others were also very helpful to my strength exercises. Many good alternatives were introduced if a certain exercise was too advanced or uncomfortable.”

— Ephraim G.

“I went through a couple trainers before finding El-Ad, and he’s for sure my favorite! I’ve seen such progress. He has great energy, pushes me, and knows my limits. I would definitely highly recommend him to anyone! Thanks El-Ad!”

— Mollie T.

“Very knowledgeable, had lots of pointers both for exercises and diet to help me achieve my goal, and was able to provide a full workout that I can do with my minimal home equipment.”

— Lior R.

Your Guides

El-Ad Cohen CPT BPT PT, Founder + Lead Physical Therapist + Coach

  • My path to becoming a physical therapist, as well as health and wellness instructor guide has fostered a unique blend of discipline, resilience, empathy for my patients and a deep respect for the abilities and limitations of the human body.

Growing up immersed in the martial arts and dance scenes on the East Coast of the US, movement has always been a cornerstone of my life. Training rigorously across disciplines and competing instilled an appreciation in me for physicality and the power of consistent effort. I was exposed to mindfulness through one of my martial arts masters, a Zen monk, which sparked a lifelong practice that continues to inform my approach to wellness.

My military service pushed my physical and mental limits, culminating in a series of injuries and a challenging rehabilitation process that tested my character.

This experience underscored the importance of sustainable training practices and the difference between cookie cutter rehabilitation and personalized care. It also led me towards an evidence based approach. While I will always appreciate the instruction I received in the disciplines I pursued, I also began to see the limitations in a mindset too fixed on business-as-usual, strictly traditional methods of achieving performance and rehabilitation outcomes. As science continues to uncover better practices and methods, we should integrate that knowledge into what we do.

Driven by a desire to help others overcome injury and physical adversity, I went to physical therapy school in Israel. I honed my clinical skills, conducted research, and passed the rigorous government licensing exam. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I actively contributed to coronavirus research while simultaneously designing and leading online training programs for individuals confined to their homes.

Upon returning to the United States,  I continued my clinical education and obtained my Colorado Physical Therapist license (PTL0019647).

This diverse background has shaped my total approach to healthcare, fitness and wellness.

I love the saying “work with what you got, where you are, with the time you have” and believe that true strength and vitality can be cultivated anywhere, anytime. I integrate evidence-based practices with a person centered approach to empower people to build sustainable habits and achieve lasting results.

Beyond health care and physical fitness, I have stayed dedicated to mindfulness practice and continue to guide individuals and groups in meditation. I hope to contribute to the scientific exploration and optimization of mindfulness and related attentional training techniques in the future.
